General Update Course — GENUP
The annual four-hour General Update Course for provisional brokers and brokers who are not Brokers-in-Charge or BIC-Eligible. The course covers current North Carolina License Law, Commission rules, brokerage practices, and important consumer-protection issues.

The annual four-hour Broker-in-Charge Update Course for Brokers-in-Charge and BIC-Eligible brokers. The course includes the annual Update content along with additional instruction concerning supervision, compliance, and Broker-in-Charge responsibilities.

NC Real Estate CE — What You Need to Know
What is the difference between GENUP and BICUP?
GENUP is required for provisional brokers and brokers who are not a Broker-in-Charge (BIC) or BIC-Eligible. BICUP is required for Brokers-in-Charge and BIC-Eligible brokers. Both are four-hour, in-person courses that satisfy the NC Real Estate Commission's annual update requirement.
What are the NC real estate CE requirements?
NC licensees must complete eight hours of CE each license year (July 1 – June 10): four hours of mandatory Update (GENUP or BICUP) plus four hours of Commission-approved elective CE.
Do you offer online classes?
No — all of our courses are taught in person at 7880 Idlewild Road, Indian Trail, NC 28079, or at one of our partner sites that sponsor the class. We believe in-person instruction produces better outcomes for NC real estate professionals.
How much does a course cost?
Tuition is $55 per course. Payment is processed securely at registration. Classes at our Indian Trail office are limited to 20 seats; partner locations may have more or fewer seats depending on the venue.
